چکیده
Abstract The current study presents a radiological water-quality assessment on 64 spring water samples from four Romanian counties. area is abundant in CO 2 -rich waters consumed by locals and tourists. Gross alpha activities ranged between 21 ± 7530 658 mBq L ?1 , with 27% of the exceeding WHO threshold. beta values 40 to 5520 430 29% recommended values. Radionuclide fluctuated 0.6 0.08 81 6 Bq for 222 Rn, 15 1154 112 226 Ra, 18 5 210 Po. annual effective doses attributed radium varied 0.002 0.23 mSv yr .

Multidimensionality and scale in a landscape ethnoecological partitioning of a mountainous landscape (Gyimes, Eastern Carpathians, Romania)
BACKGROUND Traditional habitat knowledge is an understudied part of traditional knowledge. Though the number of studies increased world-wide in the last decade, this knowledge is still rarely studied in Europe. We document the habitat vocabulary used by Csángó people, and determine features they used to name and describe these categories. STUDY AREA AND METHODS Csángó people live in Gyimes (C...
متن کاملIsophya nagyi, a new phaneropterid bush-cricket (Orthoptera: Tettigonioidea) from the Eastern Carpathians (Caliman Mountains, North Romania)
This study describes Isophya nagyi sp. n. from the Caliman Mountains (Eastern Carpathians, Romania). This species was discovered on the basis of the special rhythmic pattern of its male calling song. Regarding morphology Isophya nagyi is similar to the species of the Isophya camptoxypha species-group (I. ciucasi, I. sicula, I. posthumoidalis, I. camptoxypha), however the male stridulatory file ...
متن کاملRadiological Hazard Resulting from Natural Radioactivity of Soil in East of Shazand Power Plant
Introduction: Nuclear radiation is potentially harmful to humans and soil contamination with radionuclides is the main source of human radiation exposure. These radionuclides can., enter to human body through the food chain. In this study, 34 soil samples were collected from between Arak city and Shazand Power Plant over 20 km length and analyzed. Materials and Methods: The specific activities ...
متن کاملBiomimetic mineral self-organization from silica-rich spring waters
Purely inorganic reactions of silica, metal carbonates, and metal hydroxides can produce self-organized complex structures that mimic the texture of biominerals, the morphology of primitive organisms, and that catalyze prebiotic reactions. To date, these fascinating structures have only been synthesized using model solutions. We report that mineral self-assembly can be also obtained from natura...
متن کاملRadiological risk analysis of sediment from Kutubdia island, Bangladesh due to natural and anthropogenic radionuclides
To assess the environmental radioactivity levels and hence to determine the population exposure in Kutubdia Island, Bangladesh the sediment samples were analyzed by using gamma ray spectrometry. In those sediment samples the average activity concentration of natural radionuclides 238U, 232Th and 40K were found 15.39±1.67, 38.35±0.76 and 475.51±21.15 Bq/kg respectively. ...
